Dirk was born in germany back in 1972. Always been
fascinated by the sounds and music around he started on different instruments
but when a friend of his family came arround with the shining beauty of a new
sax he was even more fascinated and the sax fever got him. At any time since
that moment he was member of any band. For a long time this have performed with
the orchestra of his home town. In small ensambles like sax quartett and also
in big bands Dirk is enjoying the advantages of every group. But through the big
band Dirk has fallen in love with jazz music. Especially the modern style of
jazz is the music that has become his favourite.
Sound, Sound, Sound... Dirk is always striving for the
perfect sound. Through the years of performing jazz and collecting favourite sax
players like Stan Getz. John Coltrane, Michael Brecker, Joshua Redman and many
more that have influenced him he developed a very personal sound. But not only
the giants have influenced him but also his teachers and local heros have shaped
his sax style named Udo Eickriede, Uwe Plath, Markus Bartelt, Olaf Molderings,
Oliver Leicht. His main sax is the tenor but also on the bari, alto and lately
soprano he found his own style.

In the first decade of the new millenium Dirk has performed with the
jazz band named "Penninger Flats". The band has performed
mainly in the Ruhrgebiet and released a CD record in summer 2007. In
2008 Dirk was member of the harmonic obsession which is available on i-tunes
and amazon for download.
